Ranges from Natal to Knysna. Common in Natal; rarely ranges to the eastern Cape in the summer. Sometimes caught by shore anglers. Angling record: 98 kg (Ref. 12484). Spearfishing of this species is illegal in Natal (Ref. 12484). Also Ref. 9862.
